“Nothing is more important than empathy for another human being’s suffering.
Nothing. Not a career, not wealth, not intelligence, certainly not status.
We have to feel for one another if we’re going to survive with dignity.”
– Audrey Hepburn
We will always remember the Easter of 2020 for the unprecedented circumstances that we’re experiencing all around us. This eternal celebration of hope & light now carries a sense of sadness and helplessness as most of us are being forced to stay apart from our close families and friends that we would traditionally surround ourselves with.
However, it is exactly those circumstances that highlight in a more urgent way than ever before how much we need to stay close to each other in order to remain happy and sane. And when staying physically close is not an option, staying connected is all we have.
So, this holiday season, let’s find new ways to stay connected.
Let’s practice empathy.
Let’s give the gift of communication with a text or a call to the ones we can’t see in person.
Let’s reach out to the elderly relatives and neighbors that face the highest risk during these uncertain times.
Let’s express our gratitude to the medical staff and all essential workers that are being exposed out there in order to provide care for us all.
Let’s focus on the true meaning of Easter and share our hope of rebirth and new beginnings with the world.
